THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUN - Documentary - Silvia De Marco and Giulia Piazza



Garlanded a trail of spirits, fluorescent lights that playing down the trails of the forest night: here it is, the picture of "THE DARK SIDE OF THE SUN", a documentary directed by  Carlo Hintermann Shalom, competing in the L'Altro Cinema / Extra Documentary Film Festival of Rome 2011.
The film sheds light on the condition of  Xeoderma Pigmentosum , known as XP, "a rare autosomal recessive disorder of pigmentation that occurs in all races and occurs with an extreme photosensitivity to light, due to the lack of the enzyme that allows the repair of damage DNA caused by ultraviolet rays. " The disease is highly visible, manifested by pigmented spots on the face and hands, which is Presot estenfono to the whole body. Among the spots appear reddish with the lessons, the skin becomes dry, tough. The spontaneous healing narrows the mouth and gradually tends to overthrow the eyelids.
